Yorkshire pudding, gravy and peas splash food photography

I wanted to capture the classic combination of Yorkshire pudding, gravy and peas in a fun, creative, stylised way. An image filled with child-like glee!

This image was a composite of 12 individual images that I assembled in Photoshop, so the final scene would feature every tiny detail in crisp, sharp focus. Each element and composite shot was planned for ahead and precisely captured with the final vision in mind. 

A focus-stacked Yorkshire pudding for rich texture and colour. Multiple splashes going in all the right directions. Perfect peas falling through the air, one landing in the rich gravy and making its own tiny, incredibly detailed splash.

Shot with bright, hard light for clean, dark shadow shapes and strong contrast. Placed on graphic colour block surfaces with cool colour contrasts chosen to make the warm browns of the Yorkshire pudding pop.
