What I brought to the project

I am passionate about shooting macro, in love with the details that I find on otherwise unremarkable ingredients when they are shot up close, using high resolutions and targeted lighting to bring out all their most interesting features.

There is a special skill to lighting and shooting macro photography – the scene is dramatically reduced in size, so the set up needs to reflect that. Crafting the light to gently skim these tiny subjects ensures all their texture, shape and colour is perfectly enhanced.

Macro DRINK VIDEOgraphy

Extreme close up video of custom Cadbury glassware, made to look like a chocolate bar, with chocolate milkshake slowly draining away.

Thick milkshake clinging perfectly to the inside of the glass, communicating the product’s true viscosity and creamy texture while still showing the Cadbury purple straw.

As shooting in magnified macro framing, the condensation was carefully controlled, with the absolute finest layer adding touches of glisten here and there, without obscuring the branded Cadbury lettering in the glass.

The light was precisely shaped to add form, contrast and texture, while controlling for reflections in the multi-faceted custom glassware.

Different takes captured in both landscape and portrait orientations, providing the highest quality assets and very best framing for each orientation.

NEW CADBURY PRODUCT STILL PHOTOGRAPHY

New Cadbury milkshake shot in real, custom glassware designed to look like a chocolate bar.

Communicating the product’s authentic thickness through drink surface detail and clinging product around the straw.

Rich chocolate colour lit and styled to strike a balance between the product’s true colour and the visual cue of a real chocolate bar.

Fresh detail from carefully placed condensation, hinting at a chilled, refreshing milkshake drink.

NEW CADBURY PRODUCT PACK SHOTS

Clean, detailed product pack shots with glowing edge definition for cut outs.

Photography team

Expert props director and model maker Paul Baker of 3D Studios, designed and created the custom glassware.

Food stylist Lucy-Ruth Hathaway worked tirelessly to execute every tiny detail and make sure all the product’s key qualities were communicated clearly.

Videographer Scott Buxton captured the motion in RAW 6K for high quality video assets with maximum flexibility in post-production and the final creative.

Alex Poll provided invaluable lighting support, bringing definition to every macro detail despite the challenges of the custom glassware.

Digi tech Isaak Hest ensured that every focus-stacked image was super sharp, everything was clear for the retouchers and all the important creative was safely backed up. A whizz at knocking up scamps with the shoot images, he kept the agency and clients fully engaged by showing them our images in the final layouts and talking them through the retouching process and how the raw footage would be enhanced in post-production.
